Fighting for Families

In 2014, Antonio was the only School Board Member to oppose harmful budget cuts, standing with teachers and parents during the San Ysidro Teachers Strike.

Antonio championed the passage of The Lead-Safe Schools Protection Act in 2017, ensuring public schools in California are tested for harmful lead contaminants.

Effecting Change

Antonio has helped hundreds of families in our community through his work with Congressman Vargas.  This includes Health Care, Social Security, Public Safety, and Housing,

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Antonio helped students get access to the internet by helping secure hotspots for families in need.

Antonio also helped organize educational forums for students, parents, and community members.

Improving Quality of Life

Congressman Vargas relied on Antonio’s work with the IRS to help families receive their stimulus checks.

In 2020, Antonio helped pass two bond measures (T and U).

These funds have been used to renovate playgrounds in Smythe and La Mirada Elementary Schools and will be used to modernize San Ysidro Middle School and build a new community center at the Beyer School Site.
